OPERATIONS: JEFF ABBS – Page 6
The first three quarters of the year have been challenging in many aspects. Each of our business segments have been suffering, some worse than others, with the exception of one bright spot being our International business. We’ve enjoyed an incredible 67% increase in revenue so far this year and we were up over 40% in August alone. This was in large part due to a large volume of relocations from our National Account, K2. We do have an opportunity presented to us for the remainder of the year. In 2022, our business lines began to suffer during the fourth quarter. This provides us an excellent occasion to “seize the day” and work hard to outperform 2022’s numbers. It will not be easy, as we are still dealing with a challenging economy with historic inflation and rising interest rates, but the only way we will succeed is if we keep our heads up and work proudly together! We all must take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way.
Since I don’t have much news to present this quarter, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to promote the effectiveness and benefits of teamwork in the workplace. I would like to ask everyone to take a few moments and think about what they do to contribute to their team. Whether you like it or not, you are part of a team at Reebie, and more than likely many smaller teams when you break down into different departments. Some of the main benefits that come from positive teamwork are expanded creativity, a boost in productivity, and the unlocking of potential innovation. The sharing of ideas and solutions is imperative to success – not everyone processes information in the same way. If approaching a challenge together as a team, the odds of successfully finding the best solution increases exponentially.
Helping each other, respecting each other, and being understanding to each other can all provide personal benefits as well. Working together as a team can help you to recognize your strengths and weaknesses. By enhancing your strengths and addressing some of your weaknesses you can become a better team member, and even a better person. More importantly, working together as a team, sharing responsibility, and being able to support your team can significantly lower the risk of burnout.
I will leave you with a quote from the “The Great Bambino”, Babe Ruth:
“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You man have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.”
Sincerely,
Jeff
