OPERATIONS: JEFF ABBS – Page 6
I’m sorry to say that business has not been very fruitful for us so far this year. Overall our revenue is down compared to last year, however there are a couple of highlights: International is still going strong and is up over 50%. Our O&I business is up 7% as well as our packing. Perhaps the biggest disappointment so far has been in our warehousing, which is down 21%. Our storage is integral to our success and we are very fortunate that we have an additional tenant in Naperville. I would like to take a moment to thank Abel Ruiz and Max Gorostieta for all of their help with making space and moving in our new tenant. It was a lot of hard work and planning and couldn’t have been done without them.
With that being said, I’ve been thinking about what the summer is going to look like for our business. There are many things outside of our control, but one thing we can all help with is watching our bottom line and our expenses. It’s more important now than ever that we limit our mistakes and that we all work together to finder better solutions to our challenges. We must do our best to provide our customers with the highest level of service that we are capable of. The best thing we can all do right now is stay positive and focus on the things we can do to improve ourselves and the company as a whole.
I would like to take a quick moment to congratulate Frank Russell for being named Allied Van Line’s Driver of the Month for December of 2023. It really is such a great pleasure to have Frank as part of our team. His capabilities and service he provides to our customers is truly remarkable and I never get tired of seeing his recognitions.
I’m going to end with a quote from the legendary Willie Nelson:
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”
The power of positive thinking doesn’t necessarily change the results of your efforts, but I do believe it allows for a better perspective and satisfaction in your work.
Sincerely,
Jeff
