A lot has happened since my last Reebie Raps article. The most significant change has been the sale of Reebie DataBank to Iron Mountain. The deal was completed on March 31st and we have been working diligently on this transition ever since. The first phase of this transfer is to move all of our client information into their record storage system, including all contact information, rates, and inventory — not an easy task to say the least. The second phase begins on August 3rd when we start the physical removal of all the cartons from Reebie to Iron Mountain facilities. The goal is to have the transportation portion of the process completed in twelve to fifteen months.
Believe me when I say the decision to sell the record storage division was not an easy one to make and came with a lot of emotional involvement from everyone associated with DataBank. Reebie has been in the record storage business for thirty years and that segment of the company has been very rewarding. We have handled many thousands of cartons and files and have supplied an excellent service to all our customers. The record storage business has been an integral part of Reebie’s success over the years and has carried us during some very tough economic times. We also had to realize that with all the integration of technology, the time had come to pass this business on to Iron Mountain, a leader in record storage.
DataBank: From Alicia Garza:
As we begin the new phase of moving all the cartons out of the warehouse, I want to thank everyone for their years of experience in DataBank. Learning new things should always be a daily moment. It keeps our minds sharp and you never know when that knowledge will be needed.
I want to also remind everyone with this heat and summer being in full bloom to be careful. Be mindful of what your body is telling you and make sure you have plenty to eat and drink to fuel and hydrate your body.
Accounting: From Michelle Abbs:
We have welcomed Alyssa Kriz into the accounting department as our summer scanner. Alyssa was hired last year as our social media coordinator and we are happy to have her helping out in the office. I want to thank Claudia, Angela, Yami, and Alicia for helping out with scanning and filing while we were understaffed. I’m appreciative our team works well together and is always helping out wherever and whenever needed. We are proud of Yami and Angela for walking in the Susan G. Komen 5k while representing Reebie!
We have just a few accounting reminders: The City of Chicago has increased their permit rates from $25 to $30. Reebie is charging our customers $42 for each permit. Also, the City of Chicago has fixed their website issues so it’s not necessary to email Claudia to let her know you submitted a permit.
Prepayments for Local and Perm Storage customers have increased from $25 to $100.
