Safety by choice…. not by chance!
This past two years have been unlike anything we’ve seen. The pandemic’s effect on our communities and industry is ongoing. And the challenges we face as a company are still unfolding. As the Delta Variant continue to rise in areas around the globe, health and safety remain a top priority. My thanks go to everyone for what you have already done to weather this crisis and to keep our company, employees, and customers safe. As I mentioned in my heading, Safety by choice……not by chance! Your commitment makes all the difference.
Our government has taken stricter and more impactful measures to ensure the safety of our citizens. A mandate has been issued to make sure all employees of companies with 100+ employees are required to be vaccinated. There are more questions than answers at the present time regarding this mandate and I am sure numerous legal hurtles will need to get through before this becomes a reality, but it is another example on the impact this pandemic is having on our company.
Despite all the challenges, we have been able to meet some impressive milestones. First of all, for the first time ever, we were able to produce over $3 million dollars in billable revenue for the month of July. We have never reached that figure in the past and hopefully we will collect! Secondly, in my 40 years, this was the first time that we booked up every business day (including Saturdays) for the whole summer. We started booking up on May 24th and have done so for everyday thereafter until Oct 1st. Congratulations to Sales for their fine ability to secure the business, Support for providing excellent customer service, Operations to handle all this, sometimes overwhelming amount of business, and Accounting to collect and pay everyone for the business. What’s more, we were able to handle this huge demand with only a couple of hiccups and we received numerous excellent reviews that will help in securing additional business in the future.
Speaking of the future, now that the busy season is behind us, we need to be focused on not just adapting and recovering from the summer, but to also emerging stronger and more resilient. So many times in the off season we forget all those things we could have done better. So, we need to remember these things and proactively review every aspect of our company to identify opportunities to improve. Among those, we will revisit new software to help us streamline how we do our day-to-day business to improve the flow of Data and use more automation to handle redundant tasks.
I am proud and inspired by the way our company has risen to all these challenges – with flexibility, resilience, courage – and a caring heart. Thank you for your enormous contributions. Let’s work together – across all parts of the business – to keep going. I could not ask for a better team.
