OPERATIONS: GARY RICHIED – Page 6
November business was unseasonably robust and so we continue the great start that October provided for the fourth quarter. While there are a couple of business segments lagging behind we have three areas that are more than making up for them. At a time of the year when we are used to slowing down and recuperating from the strains of the busy season, we find ourselves pressured to keep up with the demands for our services as we attain record volumes.
Intrastate, interstate, and storage will be setting new record highs for the month going into December and have provided us with as much work as we can handle. Our local service providers have been pushed to the limit later this year than ever before and keep rising to the task day after day week after week. Likewise our interstate fleet is still maxed out and has not had a break since the middle of June. This fleet had record revenue numbers last month and will set a new high this month as it continues to take advantage of many opportunities the late season is providing them. Our warehouses are still busting at the seams as they too are handling record setting shipment totals for this time of the year.
Keeping up with these service demands, while dealing with all the end of the year requirements, and planning for next year has me looking for time to take care of all of them adequately, so this column is going to be brief. I will be back soon with an end of the year column announcing all the award winners for this year.
Some great advice to keep in mind from Eleanor Roosevelt while we are still coping with the challenges that Covid-19 continues to place upon us is: “You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best you have to give”.
Peace and Prayers
Gary
