OPERATIONS: GARY RICHIED – Page 6
This time of the year always seems to be the most stressful in Operations. We go from plodding along, to increasing the pace substantially, and then to full speed, all in a matter of a couple of weeks. By the middle of next month we will have found our groove and then be accustomed to working every day at full capacity. Until then we will be trying everything we can to build up our labor force in order to increase capacity as much as possible.
As we work through this though we have to constantly keep reminding ourselves that Safety comes first, and that it is not to be compromised under any circumstances. This goes for everyone concerned, the members of our moving crews, the warehouse personnel, our office staff, and yes the general public. By adhering to this we have been able minimize our vehicle accidents, which allows us to keep the vehicle is service, and we have kept our work related injuries under control and that means we can maintain a good healthy team of service providers.
We were recognized for the sixth consecutive year by Vanliner Insurance for being either the best, or the second best moving company in their top tier captive insurance group. They went on to commend us for being repeat First Place winners, and of course as the only company to accomplish that. A lot of pressure was put on Canaan as the new Safety officer and he came through with flying colors. Let’s see about a three peat now.
All indications are that this moving season is going to be every bit as demanding as we had anticipated. With more customers requesting our services for both interstate and intrastate relocations and both Allied and NorthAmerican fleets shrinking every year we will have to rely more than ever on our own Reebie teammates. We’re better together.
I wasn’t a fan of Jack Youngblood as a football player but I always respected and appreciated his attitude and efforts while he played. The advice he gives here will certainly help all of us reach our personal and team goals this busy season. He said
“You learn that, whatever you are doing in life, obstacles don’t matter very much. Pain or other circumstances can be there, but if you want to do a job bad enough, you’ll find a way to get it done”.
Peace and Prayers
Gary
