OPERATIONS: GARY RICHIED – Page 6

The business demand that started building up in June has carried over into and though the month of July. While revenues are still lagging far behind last year for the month the gap is closing rapidly and if it continues into August we should be back on track very soon.

Every segment of our business has been effected by Covid-19, and every segment has experienced something different in coping with it. Our local household relocations have recovered very nicely and are comparable to years past. Interstate household moves have rebounded well and are approaching the seasonal volumes we’ve come to expect. Storage has been the least effected this year and continues to be the steady rock that we need. Fortunately these segments have made significant recoveries and are leading the way back to normalcy.

Conversely, we have other business segments that continue to struggle. The Office & Industrial work has been curtailed by the way companies are conducting business with many of them working at reduced capacity and waiting to see improvement in the working environment. The same holds true for the International arena where restrictions are the most profound and additional caution being taken more easily understood. These areas of business I am sure will be the last to get back to their historic levels.

I feel relieved to be so busy again, that in concentrating on the work at hand it gets your mind off of all the crap of dealing with the pandemic, the rioting, and the whole political scene. If we can avoid any serious setbacks and continue on the road to recovery that we are on we have a good chance of turning this all around and having a profitable year.

It seems to me that John D. Rockefeller may have been facing a similarly unsure future as we are today when he wrote, “I don’t think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.” Persevere we have, and will continue.

On a more personal note, after nearly forty years with Reebie, Mike Salazar has announced his retirement. During his tenure here Mike held every Service Provider position from day laborer, to local mover, to local driver, and finally as an independent contractor and Van Foreman in Allied Van Lines committed long haul fleet. Our best wishes are for him enjoy his retirement now as he leaves behind all the satisfied customers he worked for and a very grateful company whose name he honored.

Peace and Prayers,

Gary
